The National Institute of Building Sciences (NIBS) seeks a dynamic and innovative President and CEO who can convene public and private sector organizations and professions that support building sciences and technology to seek consensus solutions to common problems. This is an exciting opportunity for a transformational leader to advance the most compelling built environment issues, including sustainability, safety, hazard mitigation, and resiliency. The next leader will build on the nonprofit organization’s strong reputation with government agencies, the professions it serves and the private and nonprofit sectors to develop a partnership strategy that fosters engagement between all stakeholders.

NIBS is an independent 501(c)3 nonprofit, non-governmental organization established by Congress and governed by a 21-member Board of Directors. Fifteen members are elected, and six members are appointed by the President of the United States, subject to Senate confirmation. Private sector contracts and contributions, membership dues, events, and publication sales are augmented with contracts and grants from federal and state agencies. The organizational budget is $18M.

NIBS seeks an executive with a strong background in building sciences, built environment, construction, or related fields, and knowledge of federal government contracting. The Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI) is looking for an experienced and accomplished senior leader to guide this Eugene OR based trade association into a new era and larger, more prominent role in expanding the use of organic materials. Remote candidates will be considered.

OMRI was founded in 1997 to evaluate materials for use in organic agriculture. At that time, there were more than 40 certifiers who were performing organic certification using various state and private standards.

The Executive Director of OMRI will advance the organization’s growth and its impact on the organic movement. Having expanded in Canada and Mexico in recent years, the next Executive Director will ensure sound processes underscore the vital work performed by the organization. This individual will review OMRI’s business model, retain and recruit a high performing staff, and serve as a spokesperson for the organization. Working closely with the Board to implement its strategic vision for OMRI, the Executive Director leads the organizations partnership efforts with other organizations.
